Water Transmission Mains and Appurtenances – Edmonton

Project Overview

This water infrastructure project was completed for EPCOR Water Services in collaboration with Wolseley Canada (Edmonton Waterworks team), SMC2.0, and GS Construction | Underground Infrastructure.

The goal was to design and deliver a custom mechanical vault to support water transmission mains and improve overall system performance. The solution required precision engineering to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure and full compliance with EPCOR specifications.

The Challenge

EPCOR required a durable mechanical vault system capable of managing water flow within a constrained installation area.

Key challenges included:

  • Limited space on site
  • Tight project timelines
  • High water pressure requirements
  • Need for seamless connection to existing water mains

The project demanded a solution that would minimize on-site work while maintaining reliability and long-term performance.

The Solution: Custom Precast Mechanical Vault

We designed and delivered a precast concrete mechanical vault measuring 3000 mm x 2400 mm, engineered specifically for this application.

The vault was built as a pre-assembled unit, allowing for faster installation and reducing on-site labor. It plays a critical role in controlling water flow and connecting the water transmission main to the broader municipal infrastructure.
