Oil /Water Separation

Removing oil from runoff water is important to our environment and laws to protect our environment are becoming more stringent. Any work yard, oil distribution center or other location where oil might be spilled should have a system in place to capture and separate oil and water.

Tanks-A-Lots' concrete separation units consist of baffled and turbulent reducers in chambers to separate most hydrocarbons and solids from the waste stream. Meanwhile, rain, wash or process water pass through. Everything is underground except manhole covers and a few access inspection holes over the separator.

A typical installation would involve catch basins or heat traced pad sumps to collect yard runoff and spills. Pipes from the catch basins are below ground and lead to an eight foot high tank that is buried. Once passed though the separator, water may be dispersed into a ditch, creek, rock pile, municipal sewer line, farm field, lawn or may be recycled for industrial use.

Final polishing units may be incorporated to bring the water to less than 2 ppm hydrocarbons. Our separator systems are custom designed for each specific use, yet constant inventory of modular components allow speedy installation, usually within 5 days of placing an order. Tanks-A-Lot Ltd. pioneered the design of this rugged concrete separator and has over 200 major systems in use throughout central and western Canada. Our first installation is more than 8 years old and is still performing well.
